JUNIOR GOLF AT FAVERSHAM GOLF CLUB

Here at Faversham Golf Club, we are proud to be an inclusive club: our boys and girls start from as young as 5 years old, participating in an exciting range of golf experiences. Our 'grass roots' ethos promotes a comprehensive introduction to the wonderful sport of golf. We have regular meetings from March through to October, with structured coaching and specific tee reservations to give our junior golfers dedicated time to play together. Above all, our emphasis is on having fun!

We have regular "Junior Meets" throughout the year, beginning in March and running until the end of October, most of which take place on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon and have a dedicated tee reservation to allow juniors space and time to get out on the course. Our PGA Golf Professional, Stuart Rokes, also runs group coaching sessions, which run in conjunction with the Junior Meets.

Our standard "Junior Meet" format comprises:

Plus we host Junior Club competitions throughout the year.

Regular updates, competition results and fixtures are circulated via e-mail. All our junior golfers are encouraged to work towards a Club and CONGU handicap. We are happy to accept three signed cards for 9 or 13 holes to achieve this.

BEGINNERS:

We have a range of clubs available to loan for youngsters to use which can be kept until they are outgrown or no longer required, at which point they can be returned to the office. Junior members do not have to be related to an existing member, and we are happy for parents, grandparents or guardians / authorised adults to escort juniors out onto the course (NB our dress code rule is relaxed for junior members but we do ask that accompanying adults respect our club rules - see the website for full details).

We take the health and safety of all players and guests very seriously so we do have rules to help achieve this. They are not onerous and they also help guide our young members in the etiquette of golf.

If you are interested in junior membership or would like to know more, please contact Paul or Jo in the main office. There are various annual subscriptions from under 8 to Under 21. Junior membership fees entitle all juniors to take part in the junior meets at no additional cost. Juniors are also free to play the course at any time subject to normal club rules.

What our parents say:

"Just a quick note to say thanks for your efforts in organizing the junior section: our son has thoroughly enjoyed his sessions on the course and also gained a lot from the lesson with Stuart yesterday - something that is a really good addition to the meets."

"...it's great to see the kids enjoying their golf, making friends and generally having fun. My lad was buzzing at the end of his round... and it's telling that he was comfortable enough to play a round without me with him, with his new golf pals. Thanks again and look forward to future sessions."

"...just wanted to say thank you for organizing these events - much appreciated. All of our budding golfers certainly enjoy roaming the course with friends and peers."

"Thanks for yesterday afternoon; the children loved the afternoon."

What our junior members say:

"It's so much fun"

"I really like being able get out on the course with other kids my age instead of having to play with family members"

"Having the tee reserved gives us time and space to play without feeling pressured"

"Golf has given me more confidence, not just on the course but at school, too: even my teachers have noticed!"
